Yin Yoga
Yin yoga is a practice made up of mini meditations as we hold poses from 3 to 5 minutes. We slow down our movements, soften and fall into stillness. A yin practice can soothe, calm and regulate the nervous system. Yin yoga stresses the deep connective tissues in a gentle, safe and static way.
Meditation and Breath work will help you slow down, be still and feel. We are learning how to feel into the body, noticing sensations as they arise through breath work and meditation.
Qi (chi) is a concept from Traditional Chinese Medicine that is very similar to the yogic understanding of Prana. Qi is our sacred life force and it flows through a network of channels, like rivers, in the body called Meridians or Nadis.
In Thai massage we call these lines SEN lines and we work with them to free stagnant energy or Qi. The same in yin yoga. We stimulate the energy lines and influence the flow of Qi through yin yoga shapes, acupressure and breathing techniques.
Yin yoga is suitable for all levels of experience from curious students to yoga teachers. All are welcome.
